What's New With You in 2010?

What's new with you in 2010? this is what I call a "high importance" question to your success, health, financial growth, and relationships.

My recommendation to you is to find a quite place. no cell phones, Blackberries, cats, dogs, HDTV's, get a pad and two ink pens, just in case one runs out of ink on you. Begin with your name at the top just like in school, and start reflecting on the year, you'll need a good 2-4 hours to complete this task, but it will be worth every minute of time invested. Start writing all the good things that occurred, new relationships, business developments, family things, financial opportunities that have crossed your path. Write it all down, don't second question your thoughts, discovery the new you through this process of "Reflecting".

The what's new with you in 2010, can be built from the current years activities, accomplishments, wins, losses, bumps, dirt roads and the smooth paved highways that you have traveled. Most of all the relationships, this is key to your success in 2010 and what's new with you. When you develop new relationships, you learn, you grow, new things begin to happen in your life, new connections, ideas and opportunities. You will be the new you in 2010 based upon the relationships you have. No one get's any where without the help of others, leaders are only as good as the people closest to them, their "Inner Circle" advisor's. We are who we are today by the people that have added value to our life, teachers, parents, friends, co-workers, husbands, wife's, children, don't think you can't learn from them.

While reflecting write out the person's name that added value to you in the current year, then beside that write out what they value, if you don't know go find out. Life is all about adding value to each other, and we can only add value to others when we understand what they value. This can be fun, connecting is a joy, exciting, you never know where a new relationship can take you. We all feel good when we know that we've helped another, get out there and make deposits in other peoples's life, that may be your what's new with you in 2010, adding more value!

Paint the picture for yourself, create the vision of what will be new in your life in 2010, new stuff is exciting, challenging, people want to connect with people that got things happening in there life. Maybe it's a new hair color, new glasses, different look all together, maybe it's a new career, a new start-up business, network marketing, a new home, new goals and new business plan. This list can go on and on all day, I do have to get to work soon. If it's been a few years since the last business plan was developed, sit down and look it over, what got you there may not keep you there, look at your marketing DNA, your website, your business cards, what can be updated, changed and or improved on for the New Year? How will you stand out in the business world in 2010, in the crowd, how will you be seen and heard?

What is it that you can do differently with your family? More time with the kids, cook more meals for your mate, date night once a month, don't loose focus of what got you there, the fun, the dating. What about having your family create a list of "what's new with the family in 2010?" come together, filter thought everyone's ideas no matter how old or young, everyone has a mind and ideas, dreams of a better year.

What I like most about this time of the year; cold wet weather, deep hard snow to shovel, using my roof rack, taking long cold walks in the snow, with big over sized boots on, catching a cold. Oh yes the ability to all of these wonderful acts, life is good!

Are you ready to get yourself in gear to make some new things start happening in your life today? I believe it's as simple as cooking breakfast or racking the leaves on a cool fall day in Wisconsin. I'm confident that you can get your motivation in gear and make a difference in your life starting right now.

The Dare to Grow Today Challenge is a simple but yet sometimes hard to implement concept, it takes will as well as skill. It's like going on a career interview for the first time, you can be a little nervous, unprepared, and not really sure what you want the outcome to be. It's not always the job you're looking to land, maybe it's the experience, the learned mistakes of doing a great interview, or maybe it's the job you're really after. The D2Gtoday Challenge is this, if you're willing, ready and able to challenge yourself today.

First, reflect for one hour not disturbed by anything, no phone calls, emails, text, tweeters, girl friends, boy friends, kids, nothing, I mean complete 100% solitude reflection time. That is you, a pen and a handful of blank white paper to make your notes. Reflect on the past year, and start writing, anything and everything. Note, special occasions, job intersections, family wins, career changes, business issues, personal challenges, wins, losses, setbacks, vacations, deposits, new relationships, new business connections, you get it, write it all down, this may take more than one hour, you may need to set a second time and date to pick-up where you leave off.

Write it all down, don't second think your thoughts, think it, write it!

Second, highlight in "yellow" all the good things that made a positive impression on your life over the past year, then highlight everything in "pink" that wasn't as good as the yellow experiences. Now count them up, do you have more yellow than pink, or more pink than yellow? What is it you need to be doing more of? The yellow is key, the things that have made a positive contribution in your life, the pinks are things that happen, maybe must happen, but not where we want to spend our major time. The key is not to spend major time on minor things, this is the majors and minors of life, don't spend major time on minor things.

Third, start listing all the things that you are good at, that you know you are great at and compare those to the "yellows' and begin doing things that help you get better at the things that you do good. It's important to your success in life that you spend your time on the major things that give you back a ROI of your time, skills and resources. Acknowledging your strength zones, the major areas that give you your greatest returns and focusing on these areas daily. This is what we call your "daily growth plan" (DGP) for short, your dare to grow challenge is about getting better at the things that you do best daily. Change is about today, changing something that you do daily, leads you to achieving your greatest life goals.

Fourth, make the decision to do something with what you have written down while on your "Reflection Time", it's important that you do something with your actions. Make this a "Inspired Action" not a "Required Action", set some short term weekly goals, then make the decisions regarding what needs to happen, change daily for you to achieve your short terms goals. Write out three goals for the week, three things that you want to get better at, that will help you grow with your lists of things that you are good at, so that you can get better.

The challenge is just to get better. Not that you aren't or that things aren't good, just get better at the things you do best. I know no one that was hired based upon the things that they don't do good, we get hired for the things that we do good, that we bring to the table. My challenge to you is that you set the plan to add value to your life daily so that you can add value to others. Dare to grow today, it's your choice, just one of the 2500 decisions that you make daily on average. 1. Stay true to your passion, that one thing that excites you when you get up in the morning, that area that defines your strength zone. Your passion will engage your best results and create that enthusiasm that will drive your success. Once you know where your passion lies, don’t stray, stay focused, don’t let anything hold you back, learn to let-go of certain things to make room for what you need to keep your passion alive.

It’s truly a givers gain world that we live in, no one can do it by themselves.

4. Learn the discipline to “Let-Go” of things daily; as you know life is lived daily, the toughest thing about living is that it's done one day at a time. You only change when you change things that you do daily, but it’s hard to change daily if we don’t learn to let-go of things such as; bad & good habits, routines that get us no where (Looking as if), old ways of starting the day, attitude issues, expectancy mindsets, taking versus giving, not listening and implanting new ideas, bad daily time management (doing things that are not leading us to accomplish our daily tasks) and there are many more, once we learn to let-go we then can open the door to our new ideas and objectives that will lead us closer to our definite goals and vision.

5. Live your life daily with an attitude towards being; thankful, thoughtful and faithful. Have a conversation with the person in the mirror more than you might like, it’s hard to pull the cover over that person. Live your life as if tomorrow is the start of another great vacation, we seem to get a lot of things done when we know the reward is right around the corner. Then ask yourself this very important question; what do I want to be remembered by, what is my life statement the words that will be said about me once I’m gone, then live that life daily. Don’t stray!
