This is a "Cockerel", my last name is Cockerel, where did it all start, the Cockerel or the Cockerel (Me)?
I've had my days with my last name, from my school days, "Cockroach" to the county fair days, when my friends would see the "Cockerel"s" in their cages and make fun of me. Debbie and I always check them out at the Ozaukee County Fair! It is what it is, I am a "Cockerel" and damn proud of it. What about you? Do you ever wonder where or how your name came about? Maybe I have way to much time on my hands sitting in Hotels most of my life.
Life goes on, and my mission is to offer hope and encouragement to everyone I meet!
I've also been called, Larry the Cockerel! It never ends I guess...
As a professional speaker and training specialist my job is to first connect with the audience or the workshop attendees before I can truly make a difference. All my programs are designed to do my best to connect on common ground with my clients and help pull them into the purpose of the program to get the most out of the session.
I've found that the worst thing I can do is stand up on a stage and shout or speak at the folks sitting in the room. It's very rewarding for me as well as most of the audience if I can connect, step off the platform and get down in the trenches and share, inspire and motivate with my message and purpose.
I'm confident that when speakers and trainers develop the ability to connect and engage, rather than just talk at or too their audience, the people will gain more, meeting planner will be pleased and the organization stands a greater chance to experience change, growth, and a return on investment of training.

It’s all about the customer and your customers, customer. I’ve found that there are a few things as professional speakers and trainers that are a must to helping add more value to your client. We are paid to motivate, offer inspiring and informative content and add value that can be turned into results. The following three principles I believe can add value where it counts- your client, the audience and conference attendees.
Principle #1: Move slowly through the crowd. I’ve found that the slower I move around and connect with attendees at an event the more I can learn about the organization, special needs, and economic conditions of their industry, people’s names and much more. This principle may seem really simple and plain to some of my readers, but let me tell you don’t take it for granted, it works! Move slowly and listen aggressively is what I recommend.
Principle #2: Understand what your client values. I’ve learned from what I consider the greatest, Maxwell, Rohn, Ziglar and many of my mentors that you cannot add value until you learn what others and your client values. The best way to determine what others value is asking the right questions, listening to understand, and discovering the vision and mission of your customers. It’s not about us, the speakers or trainers; it’s about adding value that gives a return on the educational investment and time invested in your presentation or program.
Principle #3: Present with purpose. You’re probably thinking I do this why should I read this? If you’re asking yourself this question then you need to read and grow, it’s not about the presenter, it’s all about the listener, your client, the audience that you are sharing with. I discovered these ”Law’s”, that I do my best to live by with each and every program; “Always make your contribution greater than your reward” and “Always make your value added content greater than your applause” it’s truly not about us, it’s all about your client and what they value and how you can add value where it counts!

I've found that if we look for the good, listen to understand others, develop ourself's daily, there is hope!
