What's New With You in 2010?

What's new with you in 2010? this is what I call a "high importance" question to your success, health, financial growth, and relationships.

My recommendation to you is to find a quite place. no cell phones, Blackberries, cats, dogs, HDTV's, get a pad and two ink pens, just in case one runs out of ink on you. Begin with your name at the top just like in school, and start reflecting on the year, you'll need a good 2-4 hours to complete this task, but it will be worth every minute of time invested. Start writing all the good things that occurred, new relationships, business developments, family things, financial opportunities that have crossed your path. Write it all down, don't second question your thoughts, discovery the new you through this process of "Reflecting".

The what's new with you in 2010, can be built from the current years activities, accomplishments, wins, losses, bumps, dirt roads and the smooth paved highways that you have traveled. Most of all the relationships, this is key to your success in 2010 and what's new with you. When you develop new relationships, you learn, you grow, new things begin to happen in your life, new connections, ideas and opportunities. You will be the new you in 2010 based upon the relationships you have. No one get's any where without the help of others, leaders are only as good as the people closest to them, their "Inner Circle" advisor's. We are who we are today by the people that have added value to our life, teachers, parents, friends, co-workers, husbands, wife's, children, don't think you can't learn from them.

While reflecting write out the person's name that added value to you in the current year, then beside that write out what they value, if you don't know go find out. Life is all about adding value to each other, and we can only add value to others when we understand what they value. This can be fun, connecting is a joy, exciting, you never know where a new relationship can take you. We all feel good when we know that we've helped another, get out there and make deposits in other peoples's life, that may be your what's new with you in 2010, adding more value!

Paint the picture for yourself, create the vision of what will be new in your life in 2010, new stuff is exciting, challenging, people want to connect with people that got things happening in there life. Maybe it's a new hair color, new glasses, different look all together, maybe it's a new career, a new start-up business, network marketing, a new home, new goals and new business plan. This list can go on and on all day, I do have to get to work soon. If it's been a few years since the last business plan was developed, sit down and look it over, what got you there may not keep you there, look at your marketing DNA, your website, your business cards, what can be updated, changed and or improved on for the New Year? How will you stand out in the business world in 2010, in the crowd, how will you be seen and heard?

What is it that you can do differently with your family? More time with the kids, cook more meals for your mate, date night once a month, don't loose focus of what got you there, the fun, the dating. What about having your family create a list of "what's new with the family in 2010?" come together, filter thought everyone's ideas no matter how old or young, everyone has a mind and ideas, dreams of a better year.

Looking out the window for opportunities like a bird I can't get too!

Looking out the window for opportunities, like birds and things I can't get too, plus it's to cold says Peanut. Lessons from a cat again, yes, there is so much to learn just by observing, watching and listening. I've found that the more I observe Peanut the more I learn about leadership. I know it sounds a little funny, or maybe just plain weird. But I'm from the south and you know what they say about people from the south? You got it, we talk funny, had you there didn't I?

Here is our lesson on living like a kid (cat) for today. Sitting quietly, observing, listening and watching for something to come by the window of life's opportunities, this is what this is all about. As I watch Peanut just sit, timelessly, no movement, ears up, staring out the window hoping to see something that she can think about getting, eating, who knows. She can sit for hours, ears up  watching, listening maybe even preying on something, like we do our goals, our ideas, our purpose. I've realized that it's okay to listen more, observe more closely to my clients, prospects, just sit and learn, think to understand there needs so that I can be ready to leap, like a cat with solution's, programs, results, somewhat like Peanut, waiting for that one little bird.

In Peanuts case she can't get to every bird and we may not be able to get to every opportunity, but that doesn't stop her from sitting there for hours watching, thinking and dreaming. We too can keep watching, dreaming and thinking of what if, maybe tomorrow, next year, when my time comes, or we can act. I'm thinking if I opened the window Peanut would act and jump, but just for a short minute or two, it is 5 degrees out today as I write.

So in a "window seal" or a nutshell as some may say, it's time to keep watching, observing to learn, listening to understand, and when the opportunities come around take the risk, follow our passion, live aggressively and enjoy life just as Peanut does everyday. Sitting there looking out the window for that opportunity, the bird she can't get too, yet! There will be that sunny spring day again, it always follows winter, it's the seasons of life, and yes Peanut will be able to go out on her chain in the back yard as she's done for years now and wait for that opportunity to jump or climb the tree. Her day will come and your day will come, just keep watching, observing and listening and you will grow and opportunities will pass your way, life is good to all that look for the good.

Oh yes Peanut has a new box to climb in and out of daily, she's getting good at living life out of her box, what about you?

She wants to eat or play with her catch, I want to observe to learn, to grow, to be able too understand and offer more. So many times we go into meetings, interviews ready and loaded to lay out our ideas, plans and or answers, when we may gain more by observing, listening and asking questions to understand, to be in a position to add value. Peanut sit's at the window to dream of that little bird or whatever, we sit at the window to dream about our future, looking out at all the opportunities that await us as leaders, parents , customers, buyers, workers, looking for the right moment.

Live in the now, plan for tomorrow, dream of a awesome future and take some time looking out your window and make your dreams become ideas that can turn into action, Peanut recommends that you enjoy every second every day that you are given, and share a little love.

What I like most about this time of the year; cold wet weather, deep hard snow to shovel, using my roof rack, taking long cold walks in the snow, with big over sized boots on, catching a cold. Oh yes the ability to all of these wonderful acts, life is good!

Making yourself more valuable, brings greater value to your personal life as well as professional life. Being that this is a decision, let's make the decision to get moving on this subject. Many decisions are made daily, some major and then some minor, at times it's easy to spend major time on minor things. When it comes to making yourself more value I recommend spending major time on major objectives, like daily growth.

Loyality is an asset, and being loyal to making yourself more valuable is the same as increasing your assets. I will share four key prinicples that are simple to implement and can help you make a difference in your life by making yourself more valuable. The more valuable you are the more money you can make, the more people will want to be around you and the more referral business you will gain through these relationships. There's a couple of benefits for you to increase your value, and trust many there are many more, better personal relationships, better parents, more effective leaders, teachers, mentors you can be. the benefits go on and on and on. It's an endless pipeleine of wealth.

Enough selling you on the subject allow me share with you the four key principles, get your pen and paper and begin writing right now.

1> Read daily; reading allows you to learn more, the more you learn the more you can share, the more opportunities you have to share the more others will want more. You become a valuable mentor to one or more your call. First question is, what are your  major strengths? Second question is, what are you reading to enhance your strength zones? Invest in your value proposition, invest in yourself daily by reading. It's been said that the more you read, the more you know, and the more places you can go!

2> Ask Questions; Learn, learn and learn more by asking questions and listening to understand not to respond. The more questions you ask the more you will discover about yourself and the person or topic you are asking about. It's been said that questions are the answers, ask and you shall receive, if you talk to much you can't ask enough questions. It's okay to be a better listener than a better talker, a good conversation is about learning, you learn by listening and asking questions. How do you get to know more about people you come into contact with? Ask questions and learn, then find who you can connect them with to help add value, this make you very valuable, as a connector. Plus it shows true interest in the other person. A excellent way to win with people, which in return makes you more valuable to them and others.

3> Observing; There is sight and then there's insight, you gain in both areas by observing others, places and things. When you observe with sight, it's with your eyes, when you observe with insight it's with your mind, your intuition, your abilities, sight helps you see things insight helps you develop and create things. It's simple to become more valualbe by observing all situations daily, observe, ask questions and your value will increase before your eyes. Observe what others do, how they walk, what there office looks like, their likes and dislikes, the color of your customers eyes, the colors that they wear, you can learn so much just by observing others, you can become more valuable to others by observing and discovering things about other people, excellent tool for sales professionals, the ability to observe.

4> Experiences; Evaluate your experiences, learn from your mistakes, miss shots, relationships. Experience is good, but much more valuable when evaluated, reflected upon and action connected with the experiences makes the difference. Past experiences are great, but when though about and acted upon these experiences become learning objectives, opportunities for personal growth, which adds value and make you more valuable to others. Life offers us all many opportunities to fall and each one is a great experience to grow and get better, and add value to who you are, it's a great thing to hit the wall, fall off the wagon, wake up on the wrong side of the bed. Each action requires a reaction, a time to grow to worth more than the day before.

My recommendation to you is lead a "value-added life" daily by adding value to your life through these four key principles. Make a decision today that you will look for ways to add value to your strength zones, learn to read more, observe as much as you can and ask as many questions as possible, and take these experiences and grow with them.
